After the announcement of the full-frame E-mount Sony A7, A7R and A7S compact system cameras and the demise of the Nex brand, you could be forgiven for thinking that Sony may not continue with its A-mount SLT (single lens translucent) cameras. However, the Sony Alpha 77 II proves this not to be the case.

With a slew of new products ranging from unusual to downright wacky, Sony has easily been the most innovative camera company in the last several years. While just about every manufacturer has debuted a mirrorless system, Sony has especially pushed the envelope with its E-mount cameras. Sony’s mirrorless system now has both APS-C and 35mm full-frame models, with options that range from entry-level $400 mirrorless cameras like the NEX-3N right on up to the pro-grade, full-frame $2,299 A7R.

The A77 II key feature is the impressive 79-points Auto Focus system that allows for great subject tracking performance. According to Sony, this camera delivers the world’s highest number of AF points among DSLRs with APS-C sensors.
