キヤノンPowershot S90のレビュー期間が終了しましたので、日記（S90 X 30 days …dmaniax.com）の更新も終わり
これまで使って来た感想を簡単に纏めてみます。
◆まずS90の特徴を一言で言うと⇒『コンパクトで画質が良い』
・画質が良いこと
ダイナミックレンジが豊か
暗い状況でも美しく撮れる
・コンパクトであること
ポケットにすっぽり入りいつでも持ち歩ける
全体にフラットなので取り出してすぐに撮影出来る
◆具体的にS90の良いとこ
・高画質センサー
⇒RAWから高画質
・28mmF2.0ズームレンズ
⇒このサイズでよく実現したと思う
・「コントローラーリング」「コントローラーホイール」による操作性
⇒コンパクトなのに操作性が犠牲になってない工夫
・自動ポップアップフラッシュ
⇒スマートなデザイン、動きが面白い
・RAW撮影が出来、DPPが付属している
⇒後で好きな現像が出来る、DPP付属カメラで最安
・EOSと同じDIGIC IV
⇒発色の雰囲気がEOSに似ている
・動画もノイズが少ない
⇒動画も高画質、HDじゃないけど、その分ファイルサイズも小さい
・表示が美しい3インチ液晶
⇒これだけコンパクトなのに３インチ
・軽量コンパクト
⇒なにはともあれ、ポケットに簡単に入るのがカメラとして最強
◆S90の気になること
・いつの間にか動いちゃう背面の「コントローラーホイール」
⇒G11と同じクリックがあるタイプなら完璧
・電源ボタンと間違える、RING FUNCボタン
⇒急いで電源ONする時に間違えた俺が悪いんだけど
・メニューがちょっと違和感がある
⇒IXYと同じメニューに、マニュアル操作も加えている感じ
S90とG11はEOSタイプの方がいいと思う
◆こんな人にオススメします
・毎日カバンやポケットでカメラを持ち歩く人
⇒それでも画質に妥協したくない人
・シンプルで飽きないデザインのカメラが欲しい人
⇒かつ操作性も良いカメラ
・一眼レフのセカンドカメラ
⇒メモからスナップまで一眼と同じくらいの画質で使えるカメラ
◆まとめ
S90はとにかくスペック的には誰も文句の無いカメラです。
使ってみると正にキヤノンらしく初心者から、マニアの方までカバーする機能や操作性、更に、デザインと造りの良さも兼る、コンデジ界の優等生君としか言いようが無いカメラでした。
沢山の人に使って是非その高画質を体感して欲しいというのが正直な感想です。
◆S90のTips
・ISO800まで実用十分な画質
・ノルタルジックモードがあるのはS90だけ
・ノスタルジックモードはハイコントラストの白黒としても使える
・ISOが1/3で設定出来るのはG11にも無い
・ステップズームは「コントローラーリング」使用時のみの機能
・撮影後にも色調整が出来る
・展示会やショーなどではバッテリーはもう１本
・滑り易いので、ストラップは絶対必須

スタイリッシュなコンパクトボディに、Gシリーズ並の高度な機能を搭載したS90の登場には、久しぶりに心が躍った。同時発表のG11と同様、これまでの高画素タイプとは異なる「画素数を抑えた高感度センサー」の搭載には驚いたし、広角28mm相当で「F2」の大口径を実現したレンズの仕様や実写性能にも感心した。「コントローラーリング」も実に便利で使いやすい。このように、フラッグシップモデルのG11にもない特長を備えたS90は、ハイエンドユーザーの熱い想いに応えてくれる「新感覚の小さな本格派モデル」と言えるだろう。
キヤノンから、PowerShotシリーズが一斉に登場したけど、僕が一番魅力的に感じるのはS90だね。

「あれ？ これちょっといいんじゃない？」と思ったデジカメをメモ代わりにご紹介。キヤノン「PowerShot S90」です。
ISO感度やシャッタースピードなどは、レンズ周りの「コントローラーリング」を回転させることで設定可能。ズームレンズを操作する感覚で各機能を設定できる。また、背面には「コントローラーホイール」を設置。ホイールを指で回転させて各種設定を変更したり、画像送りなどができる
とても良く写るカメラだ。レンズもなかなか良い（レンズについては後ほどゆっくり語りたい）。リコーのGR DIGITAL III、G11でも使っているソニーの撮像センサー、このセンサーがやはり相当に良いんですね。備わっている撮影機能も文句ない。このクラスのカメラとしては充分。

これはもう、細かいコトは抜きにして、買うでしょ！ ええ、自称「コンパクト大将」としてはね（笑）。

Our preview sample gallery from the Canon PowerShot S90. We’ve just got hold of a production version of this latest photographers’ compact, so, given the apparent level of interest, have put together a preview samples gallery. Canon made a big play of its ‘high sensitivity’ 10 megapixel sensor so we’ve made sure we’ve tried it at a range of ISO settings, and have included a couple of low-light portraits under challenging tungsten lighting.
Pre-IFA 2009: Next comes the PowerShot S90 digital compact, resurrecting Canon’s S-series of compact ‘photographers’ cameras. It features a 28-105mm F2.0-4.9 stabilized lens with a control ring built around it that enables control of camera settings such as exposure compensation. It also offers a 3 inch LCD with 461k dot resolution in a slim, compact body. Like the G11, it includes the high sensitivity 10MP sensor and Digic 4 noise reduction to make up a ‘Dual Anti-Noise System.’ In keeping with the photographers’ camera brief, the S90 includes manual control and RAW shooting
The Canon PowerShot S90 is a 10-megapixel point and shoot camera, which follows the very popular Canon S80 after its four-year run in the product line.
Long a leader in the digital cameras, Canon has been playing catchup of late, moving swiftly to match other manufacturers’ recent moves in the digital camera space. It used to be that they grappled primarily with the electronics powerhouse Sony, but that’s changed to the massive electronics manufacturer, Pansonic, a company whose digital cameras are in such high demand that people are paying full price and more for cameras like the LX3, TS1, and ZS3, even months after their introduction.
The Canon PowerShot S90 was singing to us as soon as it was announced and from our first hands-on with the high-end compact, it was clear that there was something special going on. Having lived with the S90 for a couple of weeks, that special impression is still with us – it’s a magnificent compact camera.
The Canon PowerShot S90 is a high-end point & shoot camera that takes great photos and provides great manual controls for serious shooters. The video it captures is lackluster, though.
The Canon PowerShot S90 is the latest of the “S” series point and shoot cameras that Canon created in 1999 when they released the PowerShot S10. The S10 had more features, better construction and better image quality than Canon’s other small digital cameras. The “S” series continued for several years, gathering a reputation for sophistication, through the S80 in 2005. Then Canon stopped releasing them; it appeared that the “S” series was at an end. However, over the past year there were rumors that Canon was bringing back the “S” with an innovative small camera optimized for low light performance. The result was the PowerShot S90.
This camera may lack the fancy features of some cameras but the excellent images it captures speak for itself.
